DOE IPAD

FOR FAMILIES WITH IPADS DOE

If you have an iPad borrowed by the DOE, we have important updates for you. To make sure your iPad is ready to be used this fall, you must do the following actions before the first day of school:

How to update your IPAD

1. TURN ON YOUR IPAD.

If your iPad has been off all summer, you should turn it on and load it, if necessary.

2. RE-INTERNET CONNECTION.

To do this, activate and disable airplane mode:

    1. Tap the Settings app.

   2. Look for the Airplane Mode button.

   3. Activate plane mode for ten seconds (button will turn green).

  4. Turn off airplane mode and wait until your iPad reconnects to the Internet. When connected, you will see the login icon at the top of the screen.

   5. Try your internet connection at schools. nyc.gov.

3. UPDATE ZSCALER

Zscaler is a content filtering application that guarantees your child uses the Internet safely and in accordance with the DOE's security policy. Updating the app is easy:

   1. Touch the Zscaler icon.

   2. Once open, Zscaler will automatically log in and register your device.

   3. Wait for the ′′ State of Service ′′ to say ′′ ACTIVATED ". This may take up to a minute.

   4. Zscaler Closing.

4. START LEARN AT HOME APP.

This is a DOE app that allows you to access remote learning tools and receive important notifications from the DOE. To register:

    1. Tap the Learn at Home app icon on the main screen.

   2. Log in with your child's username. nycstudents.net (part before "@ nycstudents. net ′′) and password.

5. ROOMS THE HOTSPOT OF YOUR IPAD.

Good news! Your iPad is now an access point. This means other people can connect their device to the Internet of their iPad. Just have to enable the correct setup:

    1. Tap the Settings app.

   2. Look for the Personal Hotspot Button and Touch It.

   3. Select Let Others Join.

   4. Now, other devices can connect to your iPad's hotspot.

As a reminder, access point connection should only be used for remote learning.
